MacBook Battery Running Out Quickly?
The Mac's menu bar shows the
percentage of battery life remaining. Selecting it provides an estimated
remaining time, but you will feel that the actual battery life is half the
estimated time. If the battery drains quickly even without using your MacBook,
you need to perform the following steps.
1. Restart
Sometimes you see that restarting is
the quickest way to solve many program problems
•
Click on the menu button located in the upper left corner of the screen
•
Click to restart
• To
confirm, click the restart button on the pop-up menu
You can end and restart your computer
by clicking the restart button immediately. You can repeat these steps to see
if the battery charge has returned to normal.
Please reset
the System Manager Controller (SMC)
Reset the System Manager Controller
(SMC), which resets the hardware settings to default values and basically sees
the MacBook re-evaluating the battery from scratch, eliminating the possibility
of incorrect device status.
To reset the SMC, first turn off your
MacBook.
After turning off the power, connect
the MagSafe power adapter.
Now hold down the Control, Shift,
Option / Alt and Power buttons for about four seconds.
Release all of these keys at the same
time.
After resetting the SMC, press the
power button to start the MacBook and see if the issue is resolved.
2. Keep a
Check on your Usage
Mac’s ‘battery shaming’ is a great way
to check which app is using more power allowing users to fix such problems.
•
Click the Battery icon on the right of the Menu bar
•
Click on the app to observe its battery usage
3. Update all
programs
To maximize battery life, it is
recommended to run the latest and updated MacOS, Final Cut Pro, Office,
Photoshop, and other such heavy applications. The Mac App Store update and
MacOS update process is very simple.
• Go
to the App Store
•
Click Update at the top
•
Click "Update all applications to be updated"
• If
required, enter your Apple ID password
4. How to
extend the battery life of your MacBook
If you are about to leave the desktop
of your computer, please reduce the screen brightness, turn off Wi-Fi and some
unused programs to minimize the power consumption of your computer.
Why the
MacBook battery is exhausted?
Apple introduced a handy feature in OS
X 10.9 Mavericks-the ability to see which applications are consuming your
battery. As long as you are running Mavericks or later macOS, you can view
applications that consume a lot of battery by performing the following steps:
Click on the battery icon in the menu
bar (next to the clock),
Check under "Applications Using Significant
Energy" to close programs that are particularly
power hungry.
How to
calibrate the battery?
This process involves charging the
battery, completely draining it, and then charging it again. However, it's
worth noting that Apple says the newer models are pre-calibrated, so this method
won't work for them. It may also not work for batteries that rarely exceed 25%,
but you can always try it out.
Complete
troubleshooting
Doing the above may have solved your
problem, but may not have solved it yet-maybe your MacBook has some described errors.
If your MacBook is still under warranty (or covered by AppleCare) and you
experience problems when the number of cycles is significantly less than 1,000,
you should make an appointment with Apple for possible battery manufacturing
defects.
Should you repair or replace the
MacBook battery yourself?
If calibration and other tests have
not improved, then there are actually two or three options. Pay someone, most
likely Apple or an authorized service provider, to replace the battery from
£110. Alternatively, you can try to repair the battery in your MacBook
yourself.
However, if you still want to replace
the MacBook battery yourself, you
first need to purchase the battery from Amazon, eBay, or GEMWON-this also requires you to know the
exact battery model used to ensure that you buy a compatible battery.
